Parkinson Gill

ITW are currently working with a new client Parkinson Gill on their identity and new website development. The joint directors have both been producing stunning bespoke costumes for ballet, theatre, opera and advertising for over twenty years. Having set up Parkinson Gill a new identity and sleek web presence is underway and will be posted once completed.

Looking through their work and client list found these beautiful images from photographer Annie Leibovitz for a series of Disney Dream Portraits, featuring celebrities in classic Disney roles. Company Director Jane Gill made the stunning costumes for Penelope Cruz and Queen Latifah, one of many fantastic examples of their talent.

We Grow Cherries

Well it’s degree show time and a chance for the ever growing population of design graduates to show their wares, and start the battle for experience and employment in what is a rather crowded market place for newbies. Hoping to sort out a placement schedule for Into The White this year so going to have a good look round. Bit miffed to have missed my old stomping ground Cov Uni’s degree show, due to a rather hectic schedule but shall be popping along to the BIAD shows next week.

Rather helpfully they have put together a cracking website showcasing some of the best graduates work from the Visual Communication Degree course. Well worth a look if you can’t make it to the shows.

Mickey Mouse & the Goodbye Man

Often on the playlist at ITW is some form of Nick Cave, whether that be of The Birthday Party, Bad Seeds or Grinderman variety. Loved the build up trailers for the release of Grinderman 2, and especially pleased to see the new video for ‘Mickey Mouse & the Goodbye Man’ features a full animated video from Ilinca Höpfner.

Story has it she’s sent an animated short featuring a Bad Seeds track to Mr Cave and he loved it. So much so that most of the promotional artwork for Grinderman 2 features her work. Her illustration the animation style suit this song particularly well and add to the menacing vibe.
